‘Dark Money’ Ban gets Support from Williams, Kenney

A proposed new law to tighten regulations on reporting the source of campaign contributions for local races is getting support from the two candidates accused of taking the most “dark money” in the current race for mayor in Philadelphia.

Anthony Williams and Jim Kenney have been accused by fellow Democratic primary candidates of raking in “dark money,” or campaign funds not directed tied to a specific donor.

“The candidacies of Jim Kenney and Anthony Williams have relied on their Super PAC supporters from the beginning,” said fellow candidate Lynne Abraham. “Philadelphians want and deserve a clean election, free of ‘dark money,’ outside spending, or attempts to evade campaign finance laws. ‘Pay to play’ has no place in our city or in this election.”
