“Lincoln-Way High School District 210 spent at least $90,000 for children’s playgrounds used by a private day care operating rent-free at its four schools, records and interviews show.

Newly released invoices show the cash-strapped school district in recent years bought swings, a “side-by-side slide” with a canopy, a “tot rock climber,” bumper ladder, and other “Toddler’s Choice” equipment to be used by Frankfort-based Aunt Nancy’s, which runs a day care at each of the district’s four schools.

Superintendent Scott Tingley acknowledged in an interview that the equipment was, “obviously for the use of Aunt Nancy’s,” but said he couldn’t talk about those purchases because they were made before his 2013 appointment as superintendent.”
