Looking to Boost Image, Quinn Signs Another New Ethics Law

(Chicago) – Governor Pat Quinn yesterday continued his campaign to restore his Administration’s sagging image.
Battered by the $55 million Neighborhood Recovery Initiative scandal, Quinn has begun signing good government bills with the aim of bolstering his image on ethics.

On Monday, Quinn signed legislation, Senate Bill 3552, to strengthen ethics provisions in Illinois’ collar county governments.
The new law will help these counties establish ethical guidelines and simplify the removal of government officials who violate those guidelines.
“Public officials should always be accountable to the public, regardless of how they attain their positions,” Quinn said. “This new law is part of our ongoing effort to make sure that all officials at any level of government maintain the public trust.”
