RFI ED comments on misuse of Cook County revitalization program
A Cook County revitalization program allows municipalities to take over tax-delinquent properties. Former Mayor of Ford Heights, Charles Griffin, used this program to seize 17 homes, 10 of which were then given to family and political supporters.
“You would hope you wouldn’t have to remind your representatives not to use a public program as their personal piggy bank, but apparently it needs to be made clear,” said RFI Executive Director Alisa Kaplan.
