RFI on Land Deal in Essex
In the village of Essex, a small town in Kankakee County, energy company Constellation recently purchased over 700 acres of land. Yet, the company has not informed residents of their construction plans. Residents fear that the company plans to build a data center and have organized a campaign to launch an ethics investigation into village officials.
RFI Executive Director Alisa Kaplan comments on the situation, “It is outrageous that this all going on without a firm answer about what kind of project Constellation plans to put on the land…How can the village board be expected to make this decision? How can the people of Essex be expected to accept this decision?”
