Rising complaints of Mayor Lightfoot falling short on transparency promises as she launches reelection campaign
Officially announcing her bid for a second term among a crowded field of candidates, Mayor Lori Lightfoot is facing criticism for not upholding transparency-focused campaign promises like addressing imperious city council power. “Many had hoped she was really going to make these types of reforms a priority. And I don’t know that we’ve seen that,” said RFI ED Alisa Kaplan. “Some of that, I think, is because things look different from a candidate’s position versus an officeholder’s position.”
